History

Originally a market trading business, what was to become Burston Nurseries was started by WT Pearson along with his sons John and Richard. In 1963, under the control of John and Richard, Burston Nurseries began operating as a full time horticultural business just three miles away from the historic city centre of St Albans. The Pearson brothers were able to transform a traditional,  local business into what it is today: a business recognised as one of the market leaders in the industry, both in terms of production and presentation.

Luck was on John and Richard’s side at the time of the company’s inception. The M1 had recently been completed less than a kilometre away – allowing easy transportation across long distances – and the building of the M25 ten years later would only benefit Burston’s ability to deliver their products to every corner of the country, ultimately enabling the company to establish itself as a national brand.

Our bedding plant ranges (Standard, Premium and Jumbo) are available in kerbside recyclable plastic trays and our pot plants are grown and sold in various sizes. All products are colour labelled and can be pre-priced prior to delivery.

Our aim is to continue with our founders’ wishes and produce value for money products that will set you apart from your competitors, ensuring the best quality and service.
